Module 1: Get Your Week Under ControlLesson 5 of 5

Carpools, Practices, and the Sunday Planning Routine

Pull everything from Module 1 into one 20-minute Sunday routine, and let ChatGPT sort out who drives where.

What You'll Learn

Why It Matters

When one child has band and the other has football, the week turns into a puzzle of pick-ups and drop-offs. One missed text about a changed practice time and someone is left waiting in a parking lot.

You have already built the pieces in this module: a family calendar, a brain dump, painting pockets, and a meal plan. This lesson ties them together into one short weekly habit. Twenty minutes on Sunday buys you a calmer Monday through Saturday.

Step 1

Map Out Every Ride

Start by getting all the driving on one page. For each child, list the week’s trips.

School Runs

Drop-off and pick-up times for each school, including early release days.

Practices and Games

Start and end times, locations, and anything that runs late, like away games.

Clubs and Extras

Scouts, lessons, tutoring, church youth group, and birthday parties.

Once the rides are listed, ChatGPT can spot the conflicts for you: two places at the same time, back-to-back trips across town, or a pick-up that lands right on top of dinner.

Map My Week of Rides

Fill in each child's schedule. Use first names or nicknames only.

Step 1: Fill in the blanks
Step 2: Check your finished prompt
Hi, I'm [Your first name]. Help me plan this week's driving. My kids' schedules: [Each child's school times and activities this week] Who else can drive: [Other drivers, like my husband after 5 pm] My busiest days are [Your busiest days]. Please make a day-by-day list of every trip with the time, place, and who drives. Mark any conflict with the word CONFLICT and suggest a fix for each one.

Step 2

Share the Driving With a Carpool

If other families go to the same school or practice, a carpool can take whole trips off your plate. The hard part is usually organizing it, and that’s where ChatGPT helps.

  • Keep it simple: two or three families is easier to manage than six.
  • Rotate by day or by week, whichever is easier to remember.
  • Put it in writing in one group text, so nobody has to remember who agreed to what.
  • Add the carpool to your family calendar, with the driver’s name in the event title.
  • Have a backup plan for sick days and late meetings.

A privacy note: when you use ChatGPT for carpools, use first names only. You don’t need to share addresses, school names, or phone numbers to get a good schedule.

Step 1: Fill in the blanks
Step 2: Check your finished prompt
I'd like to set up a carpool for [The activity, like football practice] with [The other families, like the Garcias and the Lees]. Practice times: [Practice days and times] When I can drive: [When you can drive] What I know about the other families' availability: [What the others told you, or unknown] Please suggest a fair rotation for the next 4 weeks as a simple table with the date and driver. Then point out anything we still need to agree on.

Step 3

Your 20-Minute Sunday Routine

Pick a regular time, like Sunday afternoon or evening. Open ChatGPT and your family calendar and walk through these steps.

The Routine

Tips That Keep It Going

Keep one chat called Sunday Planning and use it every week, so ChatGPT can see what you planned before.

Invite your partner or an older child to sit with you for the first five minutes. Everyone knows the plan, and fewer surprises come up midweek.

Skip a step if a week is light. The routine should serve you, not become another chore.

Run My Sunday Planning

Paste this into your Sunday Planning chat each week. It walks you through the whole routine.

Step 1: Fill in the blanks
Step 2: Check your finished prompt
It's Sunday planning time. Please walk me through my weekly routine one step at a time. Wait for my answer before moving to the next step. 1. Ask me what's on the calendar this week and what's new 2. Ask for my quick brain dump and sort it into Must Do, Can Hand Off, and Can Drop 3. Ask about rides and carpools and flag any conflicts 4. Suggest 2 or 3 painting pockets that fit this week 5. Plan dinners with the easiest meals on my busiest days ([Your busiest days]) and make a grocery list At the end, give me a one-page summary of my week that I can copy and share with my family.

Module 1 complete

Look How Far You've Come

In this module you built a family calendar, learned the brain dump, found your painting pockets, put dinners on autopilot, and tied it all together with a Sunday routine.

Give this routine two or three weeks before you judge it. Most people find the first Sunday takes longer than 20 minutes. By the third week it becomes quick and familiar.

In Module 2, you’ll build your Artist AI Assistant: a ChatGPT Project that knows your art, your voice, and your business, connected to your Gmail and Google Drive. It will help with buyer emails, artwork descriptions, social posts, and show deadlines.

What You Should See

At the end of the Run My Sunday Planning prompt, your summary should look something like this:

This week at a glance
Mon: Maya band 5 to 7 (Mike drives). Dinner: slow cooker chili.
Tue: Painting pocket 4:30 to 5:15 am. Must Do: gallery entry form.
Thu: Football carpool, Garcias drive. Dinner: breakfast tacos.
Sat: Game at 10, you drive. Groceries picked up at 2.

If you can read your whole week in under a minute, the routine is doing its job.

Quick fixes

If Something Looks Different

  • ChatGPT asked everything at once. Reply: Please go one step at a time and wait for my answer.
  • The ride plan has a conflict you can’t fix. Ask: What are my options if nobody can cover Thursday at 5?
  • The summary is too long. Ask: Shorten this to one line per day.
  • The routine took 45 minutes. That’s normal the first time. Save the chat and reuse it next week. It gets faster.
